Today is the last day of the month and tomorrow is the start of fall to me. We are fall-like weather which is cool and rainy. I had originally planned to take two weeks vacation in October but I reviewed how much time that I had taken already and decided to cut down the amount of time in order to have more for next year or to have a cushion of time for emergencies in case I have to take off for some reason. Yesterday I had such painful back problems. I don't know what I did to strain my back but if I moved the wrong way It let me know right quick. I did a google search for low back pain and used the tip of sleeping with a pillow under my knees which helped tremendously. I'm telling everyone about this tip because it's such a simple thing, no drugs or surgical invasions. I was thinking of possibly calling off from work if I didn't feel any better. Now, my problem is with my sinuses which is due to allergies. But enough moaning for today. May tomorrow be better in every way for everyone.

I'm using this photo to remind me of better times-not necessarily financial or productive but just a time when the weather was good and I was at one of my favorite locations, Niagara Falls.

not much to say except my weekend is over and I'm just thinking about the start of a new week.
Fall has arrived, the weather and humidity are more in line with what should be. I want to retire so bad but the economy is such that I, along with quite a few other people won't be able to do so. Over the weekend I listened to coast to coast with Art Bell and he had an interview with someone
he had interviewed five years previously about the future of the U.S. economy. Most of what he predicted about the financial panic of 2008 happened and his forecasts for the next few years are pretty dire. If all of what he said comes to pass there will be blood in the streets. This was a title of a book that I read back in the 1980's.

I am trying to give myself an updated look. Leggings are in this fall along with tunics belts, hats, ruffles( which are not for me), flats and skinny jeans. I'm going through my wardrobe to see what I can use and what I need to discard. Very high heel are in right now but they are definitely not for old women. I only had these shoes on for a short while and they caused some pain and discomfort. They are called gladiator style shoes but I call them bondage shoes. I doubt that I will be wearing these anywhere.I have some lower heeled shoes with a rounded toe which are quite comfy.

frustrations

I recently tried to create a digital layout with some photos which had been sent to my facebook site. Unfortunately, the file size was to small for me to work with. They were only good enough for viewing on the computer screen-major bummer. I mean, really. Oh well, enough whining. Perhaps I can get the person to send me an actual photo:)

philly libraries

the library system of Philadelphia got a reprieve when a new budget was signed. I breathed a sigh of relief for them because I couldn't imagine no access at all for the city. What would students and researchers do?

I just checked out a website that has quite a bit of useful information on scrapbooking .It is one of the most useful sites that I have found so far. I mean real inspiration. Of course, the persons work I really admired is way out of my league but if I could just do a few pages like hers I would be so proud of myself.

Wow! I just read on the internet that Philadelphia is closing all of its libraries. This is a major tragedy for the people of Philly. This country was founded with the principle of free information for everybody. Many people can't afford to buy books and the library has so much more to offer. They have computers available for internet access, music, videos,DVD's,newspapers etc. This is just unimaginable to me-no library at all? One of the high points of my life was be able to get an adult library card when I turned 14. I went downtown to the main library on the last day of school an applied for my card. I have been a member of the Cleveland library system since 1953 and I can say that I have been a faithful user. Plus, my overdue fines must have paid for some of bricks to build the new building downtown.

I just tried posting a video clip that I had made some time ago but it seems as though I ran into a snafu. It looks like it uploaded but it won't play in my blog-oh well.

internet woes

my internet woes seemed to have been resolved. 4shared is working again. I didn't realize how much I had come to depend on it. Since I am into digital scrapbooking I use it to download and to upload images. It was quite a scare because I thought that I might have introduced a virus to my computer. I did several virus scans and they came up negative, thank God.

I just had a frustrating session with my internet connection. I use 4shared file sharing to download item from different blog sites. Now my understanding was that what I was downloading free. It would even say FREEBIE. Apparently, the site has been hacked by a French site and won't let people download. I ran a spyware check and virus scan on my computer and everything seems ok. I hope that this problem is cleared up soon because I've gotten use to getting items to create my digital scrapbook pages.

lily pad

lily pad, originally uploaded by veracortes.

I love taking photos of nature. this is one from the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. I did some photo manipulation in order to enhance it.

Flickr

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.
hi, I tried to upload a photo but couldn't due to some kind of error-sigh. I read one particular blog, wordart by Bethany. She's a mom of five children and I don't know how she finds the time to do all that she does. There aren't enough hours in the day. I get exhausted just reading her blog. Each one is several pages long. At the end of the year her blog would make a good sized book. I have miles to go before I could equal her output.

michael jackson

I was watching a bit of the Michael Jackson funeral on TV and it is a wonder to me how h
e he was re-invented in death. When he was alive he was considered a washed up hasbeen. Now he is being eulogized as an icon and major symbol of American music culture. the sad part, in my opinion, is that so many blood suckers and leeches are ready to make money off his death and his last days.
