end of year

hi, another year gone and I can say that I kept body and soul together, barely. I am going to try to do better in the upcoming year, God willing. I am taking a break from cleaning up around the house to make these entries in all of my online blogs and journals.

another diaster

there was another plane disapperance last night in the south asian sea. It is believed to be due to weaather conditions.Airasia flight 8501. It was less than a year ago that flight MH370 from Malaysia dropped completely out of sight without a trace . I still believed it was either shot down or it landed somwwhere and all the passengers killed.

after xmas

     I went for my annual mammogram and I got my results back before I returned home. The results were negative thank God.Afterwards, I went across the street to look in at Beachwood Mall and it was really crowded with after Xmas shoppers taking advantage of markdowns. I looked but bought nothing. I did go to Legacy Village to lokk around and I bought a keyboard for my Ipad and a clarisonic faciial cleansing apparatus.

Xmas

           It is almost Xmas and I am trying to come to a decision about whatnit meams to me. I go to the malls or to tthe grocery store and I see people shopping for things to make a festive occasion of this time of year. When I was a child I would compare my experience with thatof other people and I was always lacking in gifts and ativities. My immediate family was isolated and we were never included in anyting on either side of the family. My mother was a loner and I never remember having friends or associating with her family. They had gatherings but we were not included so I never had the example of what family means. I am a loner myself due to my Aspergers Syndrome. It took me years to realize this and to understand it but now, at the twilight of my life I have come to accept it Believe me it is painful an disturbing at times but something I have learned to lve with. Merry Xmas everyone.

Black Friday

I went to Walmart and Macy's for some Black Friday shopping. I got some good deals on some fleece vests and jackets, saved over $180.

After effects of the snow

We had warm weather today and all of the snow is gone plus my gutters were cleaned. Now I can breathe easier in case we get another major snowstorm.

Snow day

     What a difference a day makes. Yesterday it was cold and blustery with ice and snow galore. A good day to stay inside and look out e window with a cup of hot tea, which I did. This morning it is clear and sunny but a foot of snow on the ground. If I planned to leave the house today I would need to shovel my driveway which I did. I feel proud of my accomplishment because I am a senior citizen and I felt fine after doing my driveway. In past years I hear about several men in their sixties dying of heart attacks from shoveling snow but since a lot of people have snow blowers I very seldom hear of this any more.

Brian's birthday

It was in this day 44 years ago tat I gave birth to my one and only child. It was clear and chilly that day and I glad for it to be finally over. The delivery did not take that long , about four hours and I remained in the hospital for four days. Brian weighed 5lbs and 4ozs when he was born.

ebola fears

we were sitting here in northeast ohio, feeling smug about the risk of geeting infected with ebola when we learned that a nurse who cared for a patient got infected herself. It was a big schock to the area. All we can do is wait and see what happens.

Blood moon

     I took some photos of the full moon last night and it did look brighter thsn ususal. I woke early this morning in tie to see the eclipse. The weather cooperated with clear skies. I tried to take some photos of the eclipse but my camera just woud not cooperate. But at least I can say that I got to see it.

I pad woes

i took my ipad to the apple store to see if i could fix my update issues. But no such luck. Perhaps i will have to wait for udate from the app provider

     I went for a 

walk this afternoon yet I noticed that the leaves are starting to change colors soon will have a leaf fall .I hope we don't have a bad winter this year .I did see a woolly bear Catapillar inching its way across the street as the first one I've ever seen I did see some grasshoppers and I saw cabbage white butterflies  a number of squirrels running around

end of summer

     I did a lot this summer  especially compared to past years. My work schedule interfered with a lot of things because I worked a night shift. Finances, (lack of mney) played another part.This summer there were a lot of events on offer and some days I had a hard time choosing which event to attend. There was something happeneing every week.

End of summer

     When I think of past years about my summer activities I can truly say that I have done more this year than in all my other summers for the past forty years. It is not as though  I had more time (which I did) or more money but there was a lot more on offer to see and do. Plus I have transportation so I can go to places that depend on public transportation.so, what did I do this summer?

Summer in cleveland

Hi, we are now in August and I have been thinking of things to do to finish off the summer. I have tentative plans to go to Niagara Falls and also to New York , God willing. As what I have planned to do I will walk aroind and take my million photos as usual.

I have attended several plays and concerts, some free and some I had to pay for tickets which were not expensive. There seem to be a lot to see and do in Cleveland this summer in comparison to other years.

Just talking

     The month is almost over and one thing I can say is that my upper respiratory problems seem to be over. In other words I have recovered from my trip to Hawaii . If I had to do it over again, would I? Yes, I would. I got to see a different part of the world and how other people live. Hawaii is not really part of the American experience it's another country that the United States annexed. I had a hard time reconciling myself with that. While I was there I saw more white and Asian tourists than anybody else. I didn't see many of my folks, black people that is. It's a great place to visit but I would not want to live there. After all there is no place like home.

Father's Day

 I am glad to have my father with us when were growing up. I did not appreciate it at the time but now I have a different attitude .

Belle

     I went to see the movie, Belle, today and I liked it because I like historical period pieces. It dealt with themes of racism,class, money women's right and roles and stations in life. The movie wa based on a true story and it had a happy ending which gave me a feel good moment. While slavery was not legal in England the trade was supported by the shipping industry. Liverpool was a focus for such trade. There were many abolitionists who campaigned against slavery and eventually got laws passed to do away with it. 

Money

I went to the casino today and won ten dollars. The place had fair sized crowd made up of retired senior citizens

Reflections

   I have been thinking about my trip to Hawaii late and I wonder if itwasn't really worth the time and money that I spent. If I had to do it over again I believe I would do the same I got to see new people new sites new surroundings which made me expand my vision and horizons. It made me realize that there is more to life than just Cleveland Ohio that people can do can and do live differently not necessarily better just different.

Today is the first day of the month and the year is half over. What will the second half bring?

Hawaii trip

It is now about two week since I got back from my trip where I caught a cold which is just about gone now. I really hate that happened because I did not have the strength to do as much as I wanted. I did make all the tours that I signed up for. World I make the trip again? Yes, I would, but next time would be on a cruise ship. The constant packing and flying to another island was a bit much for someone of my age.

My Hawaii Vacation 2014

     My vacation was good except for the fact that I caught a cold. I had plenty of company because at least ten of us came down with the same things this meant that I did not have the energy to do all that I wanted to do. I signed up for six tours which were really good and I got some great photos.. Hawaii is an expensive location, a small collection of islands  sitting in the middle of nowhere. Everything has to be imported so things are much more expensive than on the mainland. One thing that I appreciated about Hawaii was the fact that most of their souvenirs are made there, not imported from China .

Vacation

I leave today for my trip,to Hawaii. Hope everthing goes well. I will give an update when I get back

May Day

Hi, today is May Day,the first of may . The year is moving on and I hope by the end of the year that I will have accomplished some of my goals, most of them really. I am starting to get ready for my trip to Hawaii. I have all of the items that I think I will need.now, I just need to plot out my itinerary.

honesty

     I lost my wallet two weeks ago when  i went to see a play downtown at the Palace theatre. i didi not  realize tha it was gone until i gota o the casino at Public Square. I made my way back to the  theatre but i could not find it. It was a stressful day for me which should have been a pleasant outing. I made a plolice report and cancelled my ATM and credit card and my librarycard. On monday i went to replace my drivsers licsense. I will have to re-enter my credit card info for a lot of sites that automatically charge my card for various serivices. This has been a big inconvenience for me but also a wakeup call to be more vigilant of my surroundings aand my possessions.

Life's trials

I bought a new cell phone yesterday, an iPhone 4s, which is my fourth cell phone. I bought it because I already have an iPod and an Ipad now I can sync up everything.  The phone is going to cost me $67 a month which is a bit expensive for me. But while I was at the ATT store there was a couple there buying two phones snd getting service added to the phone for over $200 a month, wow. They must do some serious talking. My phone has some really nice features which I won't  use too much since I don't want to go over my data which is only one gig.

Life's events

     I had a very stressful past weekend. I thought to treat myself to a play at the Palace,Flashdance the Musical. The play was good and since the weather was pleasant and I was already downtown, I decided to go to the casino. When I got there I found out my wallet was missing. I got back on the trolley to go back to the theatre and search for it. Of course I did not find it but I left my information in case it was turned in. When I got home I called and cancelled my cards. And later on that night I went to the police station to file a report of a lost/stolen wallet since my drivers license was in it. On Monday I got a new license, library card and Costco card and a temporary ATM card since I had no money at all.

     My replacement cards arrived on Thursday, which was earlier than I expected and someone called and said that my wallet had been found in a parking lot and that they would return it. The return was supposed to happen yesterday  but I did not get it yet and I just hope they follow through. Of course my eight dollars was gone but that was to be expected. All of this has taught me to be more diligent about my possession and aware of my surroundings. I don't know if my wallet slid out of my purse or if my purse was picked by a thief.  I will definitely be more careful in the future.

Movie

     I tried to see the movie, Rio2 tonight but the stars were against me. I got there on time and was patiently sitting in my seat-had the theater to myself. After an exceptionally long wait for the movie to start I went out to the front desk to ask what was going on. Apparently the screen was frozen or some such. I got frustrated with waiting and went out to the front desk again to ask for my money back. The manager was apologetic saying that the equipment was computerized and she could not get the movie to start and  she would give me a pass to see a future movie. Well she had to go look for the pass and I decided that I had had enough and left. I won't go back to severance regal theaters ever again.

Marie and Chris

My cousin,Marie lost her husband today. He was only forty one and he died basically of a heart attack. They had been married ten years this week. He leaves a wife and two daughters. Such a shock.

Just kickin

I went to Walmart to get a new airtime card for one of my track phones. I also bought a new case for my iPod. Afterwards I made a quick trip to the casino where I played my two favorite slot machines. I came out ahead by sevens dollars. I stopped at Macy's on the way home and bought a lightweight  sweater for my trip, cost thirteen dollars, a real bargain. 

     They still have not found flight 370 and time is running out on the flight recorders. I think the plane was shot down, why I don't know, and that it will never be found. I feel so sorry the families involved, not knowing what happened to their loved ones.

Musings

    I got some of my chores done yesterday and I am feeing pretty much pumped about it. On another note I am starting to think about my trip to Hawaii next month. I read some consumer complaints about the company which made me realize that I should research things thoroughly before. Putting my money down. The only reason I went with this company is because I used them last year for my trip to the western national parks last year and I thought that it was well organized. This Hawaii trip is expensive and I hope it goes well.

April

     Today is hump day and the second day of the month. We had a taste of spring yesterday,warm and sunny. Too bad it won't be this way for the weekend. I had to get out and about to enjoy the warm weather.

Last day of the month

    The last of the month came in with a five inch snow storm yesterday which was a shocker plus it was cold on top of that.

New glasses

I Ickes up my new glasses today and they are more severe in style than my other ones. I am still upset about the vision loss in my left eye. But it is something that I will have to live with  and I just hope it does not get worse .

Flight 370

      There are sonny conflicting theories about what happened to flight 370 but I fear it will never be found. For whatever reason the Malaysian governmenth denied the early reports of the radar tracking when it was reported that the plane had made a left turn. Then there was confusion over the altitude was the plane at 40000 feet or not. Was it directed by computer hacking or human control, we will never know  because I fear the plane is lost for all time.

Spring cleaning

I paid someone to clear.my yard of leaves and dead branches and they world on my yard for about three hours and did a nice job.gave them a ten  dollar tip above what they charged. It was well worth it. Now I am ready for spring planting.

Art class

I went to my last  art clas for this session the afterwards I went to the art museum to see the Van Gogh exhibit. I try to see the genius that people talk about but all I can see is what is I front of me, paint on a canvas. I lack insight.

My day

Well, it started off with my yearly eye appointment and I got some bad news. I knew that I had been having problems but I did not what was wrong. I thought it might macular degeneration but instead it is glaucoma and I have some vision in my left eye. I had been complaining of problems for the past several years but they could never find any thing. I hope the vision loss can be stabilized.

Just sounding off

     My son recently lost his job because he did not pass his physical, high blood pressure,. I don' t know how this is going to play out because he had not work long enough to qualify for unemployment. God help him and help me. I want to get himself together and move out off my house. I am a solitary person and I am happiest being alone. I used to think that I wanted company and associations but I am not really happy with being around including my grown son. Lord show me some mercy and let be able to go his own way.

Plane crash

Flight 370, from Malaysia, crashed yesterday for apparently no reason. Hopefully they will find the black boxes which will give some information as to why. I think that the plane was blown up, a bomb on board.

Friday

The weather is mild today and I went to do my laundry which makes me feel good because one of the most depressing things is a big pile of clothes to be washed. 

 Brian called home to see if anyone had called but no one had, maybe Monday. I am praying for him.

Interview

I took Brian to job interview today and I have my fingers crossed at the gets it. He need to get his life back on track,hopefully before I leave this earth.

New day

Just saw an article about deleting my online persona. After dealing with cyber bullies a couple of days ago I am giving it serious consideration. But there are so many sites that I use that it would be awkward.

A new day

Well I feel in a better frame of mind today. It took steps to end the cyber bullying that I experienced yesterday. One lesson that I learned I s to be very careful of the comments made to other peoples posts. I am truly sorry If I gave offense, but my impression was valid to me no matter what anyone else thought.

Cyber bullying

I made a comment to a photo posted on my Facebook account and the person who posted it was totally  offended. He made some insulting remarks that were, in my opinion off the hook then one his friends chimed with a post about my personal appearance. Now, I do not know either of these persons and I do not want to know them. Now I can see how hurtful anonymous remarks can be and while I did not feel as badly as some teenagers who have taken their lives over cyber remarks posted on their sites, I just took steps to block these people and I hope it ends there. If not, I will have to take further steps. Please, everyone be careful because there are lot of crazies out there who can hide behind a cyber wall.

Face book post

I made a comment on Facebook last night which offended a few people. I am sorry that they had that reaction but I still stand by what I said. I am trying to figure out how to block them from making more comments or I might just shut my Facebook account down.

My birthday

Hi had a nice birthday today,I give thanks for being safe, warm,and dry and in my own home with all the utilities working because many people around the country can not say this. My heart goes out to any and all facing adversity. I went shopping the. made a short visit to the casino. I came out with the same amount I went in with so I can not complain. Again, happy birthday to me. Oh by the way Brian gave me some Beats studio wireless headphones.

Loved the clothes. Most of the women looked gorgeous which made me wonder how long did it take for any one of them to get ready-all day?

Hi went downtown today to see a play since the weather was pleasant for a change, then on to the casino,lost twent dollars.

Never ending winter

       We  had our tenth day of below zero temps on Monday, we have not had this many below zero temps in nearly thirty years. Plus we have a lot of snow which has depleted salt supplies in some localities.here, on the Northcoast, Lake Erie is frozen over. It looks like a giant white field.  

Never ending winter

We Have had ten days of temps that went below zero. A fast clipper snow storm blew through overnight making for hazardous driving conditions  and many schools are closed for the day which has  given students a longer holiday day weekend.

New gadget

     My. Son surprised e with some wireless Beats audio headphones and while they have a really good sound, I would not pay the $300 dollars that they retail for.

Endless winter

It seems as though winter will never end. Just this morning it was three below zero. This makes about seven day this winter so far that we have had temps below zero . Hope warmer times are around the bend.

Winter wonderland February 2014

I woke this morning to a quiet and peaceful world coverd in light fluffy snow. It made me think of the Robert Frost poem, whose woods these are I think I know.

Winter woes

It seems as thiough cold temps have moved in to stay foe awhile. Iris gong to go below zero for the next two days. I can hardly wait for my birthday, which is in march because that will mean that spring is just around the corner.

Will this winter weather ever end? I can not wait till spring.

Aftermath of the polar vortex 2014

The beginning of the week is fading into a dim memory. I give thanks that I did not have any untoward problems. The area experienced burst pipes, power outages,and a failure of the water plant in avon lake.
