Veterans Day

It was a beautiful fall day here in the greater Cleveland area with many restaurants offering free meals to  Ohio veterans. This is the first year that I have taken advantage of it. I had breakfast at Bob Evans and lunch at the Olive Garden. The food was good and the restaurants were crowded.

I was reading a fictional book dealing with a fictional account of what the world would look like if global warming persists. It gave scenarios of strife of changing coastlines large loss of life a New World order. It dealt with our inability to make changes which are necessary in order to bring down the missions of the global all gases in the atmosphere and to all recognize changes that were being made early on. The entrenched businesses that dealt with fossil feels the extraction and the suppliers of the machinery the global banking all our way of life especially Americans suburban lifestyle. All of the above contributed to increasing fossil fuels which led to run away global warming.

The changing coastlines were due to the melting of the polar ice in the north and the and Arctic ice show warming and melting in the south pole this raise the sea levels by a number of feet and with the increasing of the warmth of the ocean it cost more intense storms which led to more damage to the coach lines around the world.this caused a lot of weather refugees who really had limited places to go. The title of the book is the end of western civilization. A lot of what was forecasted in the book was very plausible. Just this weekend the strongest hurricane ever recorded, hurricane Patricia made landfall on the Mexican coast with winds of 190 mph. It was forecasted that warmer weather would cause larger and more destructive storms. This change in weather patterns caused  the demise of many species of animals.

I went to the casino yesterday but no luck. I lost $35. This will be my last foray for awhile.

Medieval based fantasy

Hi I have been reading a number of the Medievil based fantasies and most of the ones that I've read feature female main characters. The authors never deal with real life situations that women in the woods might face such as sanitary issues dealing with their monthly menstrual cycle. It is as if these issues don't exist. I get the impression that the or just a female version of a man and of course man don't have issues with monthly menstrual cycles.

Concert

I went to hear Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra at Severance Hall. Really excellent concert. It was a near sellout which surprised me because the tickets were rather expensive.($52 for a balcony seat).

The sun is setting on a beautiful weekend 

Mid month

     I went to the hard rock rocksino yesterday and lost$25. I don't think I will go back again for a good while . It's too far and I never win any money. Today I went  shopping at Pavilion mall for some pieces for my upcoming trip. So many items look good on the hanger but don't flatter when one tries them on. I bought five tops. I already have the pants that I need . I won't make my final choices until about five days befor I leave. Here's hoping for decent weather.

     I went to the casino today and won $125. Yippee!!

The eyes have it

I went for. A follow up eye appointment today and I can say that my eyesight is getting better. I have no idea what caused my problems with pain, vertigo, nausea and blurred vision. 

Summer

After the cool somewhat rainy weather we have been having has been replaced with hot sunny weather which is a nice change. People can do their outdoor activities but as for me  I am having eye problems and need to stay out of the sun,

Life in general

Just thinking about things, what I can rearrange or what I can discard. My problems are minor compared to some but they are a millstone around my neck to me. Lord, give me strength.

Car woes

I have bad karma. Sometimes I think that I should just stay in the house and be a hermit. Nothing happens at home.

Gardens

I went to the botanical gardens today and got some great shots.

Jazz festival

I went to the tri c jazz festival last night and it was a great time. Well worth the money.

Sunset

I went to Lake Erie To take photos of the sunset and I got some nice photos.

Fireworks

I went downtown to see the fireworks and to hear the Cleveland orchestra.it was a great show.

The weekend

Just laying here thinking about what I should, need to do today. The weather is miserable so I don't feel inclined to go out and do something. It's a good day to catch up on chores.

Rainy weather

We are having a prolonged spell of rainy weather and there has been some flooding in my part of the country. In other parts , such as Texas and Oklahoma they have had major damage and destruction.at least the drought in those areas has ended. I just wish California could get some this rain because they have been in a major drought for a number of years. There is going to be a sharp rise in food prices in the coming months.

I went to the butterfly conservatory at Niagara Falls and got some great  photos. I will use about ten out of two hundred to creat layouts.

I always thought that Apple products were virtually immune from virus attacks. I hope that I got rid of mine because I use my tablet more than my computer.

One of my favorite mystery writers died yesterday, Ruth Rendell at age 85.

Casino

I went to two casinos yesterday and wound up losing $35. I won't be going back for awhile since I really don't have money to be throwing away like that. I can see how easily a person can get hooked on the flashing lights and thinking the next pull is going to be the one that pays off.

Let us pray for the people of Baltimore. This brings back memories of the sixties

Eyes

I had a follow up appointment on Friday but the results were not positive and the doctor put on  a different and additional drop which I hope works. I asked about laser surgery but he said it at my pressure it really would not help. Al. I can do is pray

Finally, some warm and sunny weather, spring is here and the lake is ice free.

Play

     I went to the playhouse downtown to see Kinky Boots, an award winning play on Broadway. It dealt with issues of sexual identity and social acceptance. I thought that it was well done for the most part and it was a sell out crowd for the matinee. Cost me $85.

I picked up my car yesterday, and they did a good job even a little extra such as washing my car and touching up,the paint on my mirror.

Eyesight

I went for my follow up exam yesterday and they added an additional eye drop and I just hope that it works and that I won't have to have laser surgery.

Taxes

I got my taxes done yesterday and all in all it wasn't too bad since I only have to pay the state $158. This time around I am getting a little back from the federal taxes. I had hoped to get some back last year but wound up paying $800, ouch.    

      We are having a warming trend which I hope will melt the two feet of snow tha t is on the ground. As long as it is gradual we won't have  any flooding.

Birthday update

I had breakfast at IHOP, French toast instead of the free pancakes. The restaurant was really crowded because of the free pancakes although donations to a worthy cause were encouraged. Later I went to the Northfield casino where I lost twenty dollars. However I did win five dollars on scratch offs. I made a stop at the shaker Hts library on my way home. I have the worst weather for my birthday, cold rain, snow and more but the temps did get above freezing.

Today is my 69th birthday birthdY and I have no special plans for the day. I will go to my art class and perhaps to the casino but that is all.

March is coming in like a lion and I hope we have some better weather soon for I am so weary of winter.

Today is the last of February and I can hope to look forward to better and warmer weather. This winter has been brutal as far as the cold. We have had so many below zero temps. The school kids have a lot of days off from school.

Finally got my driveway done. I worked in half hour increments since I didn't want to take a chance on a heart attack. Where are the kids knocking on doors asking to shovel snow?

Traffic ticket

Cops sitting waiting for someone to come by. I caught  speeding and I truly did not know I was doing so. The speed changes from thirty to thirty five and supposedly residents have been complaining about people speeding on Monticello. I just think it s a money grab by the city. And I had though to stay in all day. I should have listened to my instincts .

Arctic chill

I went out yesterday and wow! It was so cold and the wind blowing made it worse. The wind chill was 20 below zero.
